A coalition of Indigenous governments and organizations are descending on New York this week for the United Nations Everlasting Discussion board on Indigenous Points.
In response to the Meeting of First Nations, themselves together with representatives from PAGC and Black Lake Denesuline First Nation will use the discussion board to rebuke Canada for mass incarceration of Indigenous Peoples.
In response to the AFN, Indigenous individuals signify 5% of the Canadian inhabitants, however 33% of the inhabitants of individuals in federal prisons are Indigenous.
“That is systemic racism rooted in colonialism, not particular person failure,” stated PAGC Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte.
