For years UK farmers have been squeezed by the large supermarkets on price, whereas the buyer expects greater requirements.
Add in avian flu and rising prices and evidently these pressures at the moment are producing a nationwide egg scarcity.
A number of supermarkets are rationing eggs for patrons and on Thursday Waitrose, which isn’t setting limits, dedicated to paying farmers an additional £2.6m to take care of provide.
