The US navy has begun transferring ISIL detainees from northeastern Syria to Iraq, citing fears of instability and potential jail breaks.
CENTCOM says 150 prisoners have already been moved from Hasakah, with as much as 7,000 probably transferred within the coming days.
Washington says the operation is being coordinated with the Iraqi authorities to make sure safe and orderly transfers.
