Ambassador and Everlasting Consultant of Sri Lanka, Sumith Dassanayake, had a constructive assembly with the United Nations Excessive Commissioner for Human Rights, Ambassador Volker Türk, at Palais Wilson on 13 April 2026.
Through the assembly, Everlasting Consultant Dassanayake briefed the Excessive Commissioner on current developments in Sri Lanka and mentioned a number of issues of mutual curiosity. Ambassador Dassanayake reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s continued and constructive engagement with the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and the Workplace of the Excessive Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
Excessive Commissioner Türk appreciated Ambassador Dassanayake for the briefing, whereas expressing continued help for Sri Lanka by OHCHR.
