A decentralized motion of environmental and social justice activists in Atlanta is making an attempt to cease the development of “Cop Metropolis,” a $90 million police coaching complicated in one of many metropolis’s final remaining forests. However authorities in Georgia are characterising the motion as an extremist organisation, and have launched an unprecedented crackdown.
Dozens of protesters at the moment are going through many years in jail for racketeering and home terrorism fees. Civil rights specialists warn that profitable convictions would give police and prosecutors a brand new playbook that criminalizes political affiliation and treats property destruction as terrorism.
