A northern Manitoba First Nation is being evacuated as a close-by wildfire threatens to edge nearer to the group due to wind.
The Canadian Pink Cross says it’s supporting the evacuation of Bunibonibee Cree Nation, previously often called Oxford Home.

The wildfire is estimated to be 10 kilometres south of the group and roughly 57 sq. kilometres in dimension.
4 different First Nations within the province stay evacuated, with the Pink Cross saying group members are staying in Winnipeg, Brandon and Thompson.
Federal Emergency Preparedness Minister Harjit Sajjan says he has accredited a request for help from the province on behalf of Bunibonibee Cree Nation and the Canadian Armed Forces has despatched plane to help the evacuation.
The First Nation has a registered inhabitants of about 3,400 and is roughly 160 kilometres southeast of the town of Thompson.
