(DTO) On April 25 and 26 (the ninth and tenth days of the third lunar month), Gia Thuan authorities and residents solemnly celebrated the Nghinh Ong Nam Hai Pageant at Lang 2 Quarter, the hub of the locality’s largest fishing fleet.
This conventional occasion, deeply imbued with cultural identification, drew a big crowd of locals and vacationers alike.
The pageant options two predominant parts: Rituals and Festivities. The ritual half unfolded with the dignified Sac Than procession on the morning of the ninth. This elaborate ceremony, highlighted by spectacular performances and a grand palanquin parade, created a sacred but bustling environment that captivated onlookers.
In tandem, the festivities provided a vibrant array of cultural and sporting actions, together with people video games, conventional music, Tuong Co (classical opera), and Cai Luong (reformed theatre), fostering neighborhood spirit and a joyful ambiance.
Notably, on the tenth day of the third lunar month, the primary ritual of the Nghinh Ong Nam Hai Pageant is carried out at sea. Dozens of vessels, brightly embellished with flags and flowers and carrying ceremonial choices, ritual music bands, and lion dancers, transfer towards the estuary to carry out the ceremony of “welcoming the Whale” (Nghinh Ca Ong) again to the Temple. This sacred second epitomizes the fishermen’s reverence and unwavering religion of their maritime patron Metropolis
The Nghinh Ong Nam Hai Pageant is a crucial intangible cultural heritage, reflecting the assumption in worshipping Ca Ong (Lord Whale)—the patron saint of coastal fishermen.
