NARA, Apr 18 (News On Japan) –
The dismantling of the higher decoration of the five-story pagoda at Kofukuji, a UNESCO World Heritage web site in Nara, was opened to the media on April 15 because the temple undergoes its first main restoration in round 120 years.
Staff are eradicating the pagoda’s metallic spire, generally known as the sorin, in phases. The dismantling started in late March as a part of the in depth conservation challenge.
Temple officers will examine the situation of every part and perform repairs the place essential. The restored decoration is scheduled to be reinstalled in 2031.
