A faint veil of moisture hangs within the air as water sprinklers come alive throughout enclosures on the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP). Underneath the shade of the timber and hills of the Japanese Ghats, khus mats drip steadily, thatched roofs soften the summer season glare and animals retreat into cooler corners of their enclosures. The zoo, unfold throughout 625 acres between forested hills and the Bay of Bengal, is settling into its annual rhythm of summer season administration.
As temperatures rise exterior the park’s gates, the inner panorama is rigorously moderated. Water, shade, weight loss plan and routine work collectively to carry animals inside a slim band of consolation. Right here, each enclosure carries a plan; each species calls for a unique response.
