To the editor: At nearly 40 million folks, California is probably the most populous state within the U.S. To realize this doubtful distinction, we now have dammed up practically each river within the state to produce water and energy for progress and business. (“California exodus left a gaping population hole. Can the Golden State finally bounce back?” Might 14)
We now have over-drafted practically each aquifer within the state.
We now have the worst air high quality within the nation, together with among the worst site visitors.
We now have plowed up practically each sq. inch of the as soon as wonderful Central Valley and slathered it with pesticides, herbicides and rodenticides.
We now have lower down native oaks and conifer forests.
We now have all however destroyed native fish populations, and we now have killed off California’s grizzly bears, our state image.
Our cities have gotten unlivable and our neighborhoods have gotten un-neighborly.
And but, there are some who bemoan the truth that we now have these days misplaced some inhabitants and suppose we want extra progress.
It appears apparent to me that we now have exceeded California’s carrying capability. We’re destroying the ecosystems on which our lives rely. This isn’t sustainable.

To the editor: This text assumes that flat or unfavorable inhabitants progress is a nasty factor.
Think about that the majority of California’s issues — air air pollution, site visitors congestion, water shortages and housing shortages — have been brought on by the speedy inhabitants progress in earlier a long time. Now it’s time for the state to catch up and construct infrastructure to help the people who find themselves already right here.
