Nikki Haley’s announcement that she is going to run for US president in 2024 makes her the primary Republican to problem Donald Trump for the celebration’s nomination.
A former South Carolina governor and United Nations ambassador, Haley is the third Indian American to hunt a presidential nomination.
“Now isn’t the time to carry again. Now’s the time for a robust and proud America,” she tweeted, linking to a marketing campaign video.
The previous governor, 51, stated in 2021 that she would not problem Mr Trump for the White Home. However she modified her place in latest months, citing the necessity for “generational change”.
Different Republicans who’re tipped to launch their very own White Home campaigns embody Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former Vice-President Mike Pence.
