ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – An energetic finish to the week with the primary hurricane of the season, scattered storms together with summer time warmth and humidity as highs topped mid 90s with warmth indices round 105. Our southern counties had been underneath a Warmth Advisory.
Beginning within the tropics, Erin, the fifth named storm of the season, reached hurricane depth with 75mph winds Friday morning. The quickly intensifying storm turned a Cat 2 hurricane late Friday. As Erin tracks over the Atlantic this weekend, its projected to succeed in a serious class 3 on Saturday after which a class 4 with 145 mph winds on Sunday.
