To the editor: Whereas I admire any argument in opposition to voting for Donald Trump as somebody who may ever deliver peace to the world, columnist Robin Abcarian’s assumption that voting for a third-party candidate is simply “against Kamala Harris” is misguided in regards to the state of our nation and the world.
It’s insulting to imagine that voting for the established order that Democrats (and non-Trump Republicans) signify is what any logical and peace-loving individual would do.
It ignores the truth that there was a bipartisan effort since World Struggle II to foist “free-market capitalism” onto our lives both on the level of a gun, or with the specter of impoverishment if one doesn’t take part within the globalized system of deregulated environmental and financial exploitation and competitors.
For lots of of hundreds of thousands of individuals around the globe, freedom consists not solely of defeating those that threaten reproductive rights and mass immigrant expulsion. It consists of significant social security nets, precise environmental protections and the tip of U.S. financial and navy imperialism.
Gaza was destroyed on a Democratic president’s watch, but we’re to consider a vote for Harris will put it aside? Pledges to scale back greenhouse gasoline emissions are toothless, and we’re to consider that our grandchildren is not going to undergo immensely from local weather change?

To the editor: Abcarian’s pitch to voters outraged by U.S.-supported abuses of Palestinians boils right down to this: Issues are unhealthy for you beneath President Biden (however not for the remainder of us), issues will stay unhealthy for you beneath Harris (however not for the remainder of us), we expect issues shall be worse for you beneath Trump (and possibly for the remainder of us too), so kindly hold the remainder of us snug and don’t vote your conscience.
In impact, Abcarian tells us that we and our considerations don’t matter sufficient to warrant outlined insurance policies to finish U.S.-funded Israeli struggle crimes. I hope for her sake and that of others equally snug with hole arguments that Democrats inspire loads of different voters to affix them — as a result of we aren’t moved by this reasoning.
