US Strikes Houthi Targets in Yemen’s Capital Sanaa After Ballistic Missile Hit Tel Aviv
The US army mentioned it performed precision airstrikes on December 21 towards a missile storage facility and a command-and-control facility operated by Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa. In a press release, the US army’s Central Command mentioned the strikes aimed to “disrupt and degrade Houthi operations, reminiscent of assaults towards US Navy warships and service provider vessels within the Southern Pink Sea, Bab al-Mandeb, and Gulf of Aden.” The US army additionally mentioned it struck a number of Houthi one-way drones and an anti-ship cruise missile over the Pink Sea. The strike adopted a Houthi missile assault on Israel that struck Tel Aviv and injured 15 individuals. Earlier on December 19, Houthis claimed a drone assault on “Israeli army targets.” The Houthi assault of December 19 coincided with Israel’s strikes towards ports and power infrastructure in Houthi-held components of Yemen. The Houthis have vowed steady assaults on Israel and its allies in purported solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
