The US has shot down a large Chinese language balloon that it says has been spying on key army websites throughout America.
The Division of Defence confirmed its fighter jets introduced down the balloon over US territorial waters.
China’s international ministry later expressed “sturdy dissatisfaction and protest towards the US’s use of pressure to assault civilian unmanned plane”.
Footage on US TV networks confirmed the balloon falling to the ocean after a small explosion.
