The US Secret Service shot a person exterior the White Home early on Sunday after an “armed confrontation”, the service stated in an announcement.
It had earlier obtained a tip-off from native police a few “suicidal particular person who could also be travelling to Washington DC from Indiana”, it stated.
Its officers approached a person matching that description, “who brandished a firearm”, including that photographs have been fired. The person is now in hospital in an “unknown” situation, it stated.
President Donald Trump was not within the White Home on the time, as he’s spending the weekend at his Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago.
“As officers approached, the person brandished a firearm and an armed confrontation ensued, throughout which photographs have been fired by our personnel,” the assertion stated.
The incident is now beneath investigation by Washington’s Metropolitan Police, which investigates all law-enforcement shootings within the District of Columbia.
