Kizza Besigye was reportedly taken in a covert operation whereas visiting neighbouring Kenya in November.
He was then flown to Uganda, bypassing formal extradition procedures.
He is a widely known critic of Uganda’s President, Yoweri Museveni. and has challenged him for the Presidency 4 instances.
