In Tunisia, galloping inflation, the pressures of trans-Saharan migration, and an more and more repressive authorities, are straining social cohesion.
There are similarities to the state of affairs that led to the nation’s Jasmine Revolution in 2010, which in flip triggered the broader Arab Spring protests.
It is all being watched nervously throughout the Mediterranean by European nations that depend on the federal government there to regulate migration.
