BBCPresident Donald Trump has introduced that the European Union and Mexico will face a 30% tariff on imports to the US from 1 August.
He warned he would impose even larger import taxes if both of the US buying and selling companions determined to retaliate.
The announcement was made in two letters posted on Trump’s Reality Social web site. Comparable letters have been despatched this week to a number of different international locations.
The 27-member EU – America’s largest buying and selling companion – stated earlier this week it hoped to agree a cope with Washington earlier than 1 August.
