Trump administration army leaders are “fascinated by” whether or not the U.S. ought to purchase equity stakes in prime protection contractors similar to Lockheed Martin, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated Tuesday.
The Cupboard secretary, in an interview on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” revealed the federal government’s curiosity in taking these stakes days after the U.S. authorities acquired 10% of Intel inventory in a roughly $9 billion deal.
Lutnick was requested if the Trump administration would repeat that transfer with different corporations that do enterprise with the federal government.
“Oh there is a monstrous dialogue about protection,” Lutnick replied.
Lockheed, which makes most of its income from federal contracts, is “mainly an arm of the U.S. authorities,” he stated.
“However what is the economics of that? I will go away that to my Secretary of Protection and the deputy Secretary of Protection,” he added.
“These guys are on it they usually’re fascinated by it.”
