Three individuals have died in Reunion after Cyclone Garance swept via the French Indian Ocean territory with gusts of as much as 234km/h (145mph).
The tropical cyclone left greater than 180,000 properties with out energy and 170,000 with out working water after making landfall on Friday morning.
The distant island’s whole inhabitants – together with emergency providers and police – have been ordered to remain indoors as the utmost alert degree was imposed.
Heavy storm rains have been anticipated to proceed on Friday night, with Prime Minister Francois Bayrou warning on X that the cyclone remained a risk.
