The Doctrine of Election, Half 2 (Chosen Scriptures) [Audio Only] – John MacArthur
“We’re going to return now to the, I belief, refreshment of the Phrase of God. We’re speaking in regards to the doctrine of election, chosen by God, who selected whom. And this isn’t with out controversy, as you nicely know. The doctrine of sovereign election, the reality of predestination is far mentioned and most discussions can degenerate into one thing very heated.
Actually, to say that there are individuals who hate the thought of predestination just isn’t an overstatement. There are individuals who hate the considered divine election, sovereign alternative. Actually, there are some individuals who say that the doctrine is demonic, that the doctrine itself is satanic. It’s such an affront to their sense of equity and sense of what they suppose is true, that there are individuals who name themselves Christians who would see this as fact that comes from the enemy of God and never God himself.
For many individuals, rationally it appears unfair that God chooses who can be saved. For different folks, it’s emotionally onerous to simply accept and endure that God would resolve who he would save. To different folks – and perhaps to the identical folks as the primary two – it looks as if some form of assault on free will, human alternative, which many individuals are satisfied is a few form of human proper.
And I perceive these emotions. It’s a onerous doctrine to simply accept. All of us who’ve come to know what the Bible teaches in regards to the doctrine of election have needed to cope with the rational arguments that say this doesn’t appear honest, this doesn’t appear simply, this doesn’t appear equitable, this will’t be the way in which it’s. We’ve all needed to cope with the emotional problems with, it’s tragic, it’s unhappy that God passes by some sinners. We’ve all needed to cope with the truth that whereas we now have volition, and we now have alternative, finally it isn’t unbiased of God…” from the Transcript
