To the editor: The primary six paragraphs of Lorraine Ali’s column, “Democrats keep expecting white women to save them, and they keep getting burned,” left me so enraged that I actually threw the paper throughout the room.
I too was horrified by ladies voting for this repulsive racist and misogynist. White ladies little question helped get Donald Trump elected president, however loads of ladies from all lessons and colours did as effectively. And aren’t these white ladies crying within the image that accompanied this column?
What about all of the Latino males who voted for Trump? They share no blame on this debacle? Why isn’t Ali bashing them and calling them an insulting identify?
I’m a white lady who got here of age within the Sixties. I grew up with this newspaper in our home, and I’ve been a subscriber for 52 years. I’ve caught with this paper by way of thick and skinny, even when there was no endorsement for Kamala Harris for president. I stayed as a result of I needed to assist all of the hard-working, caring journalists who’re nonetheless there.
Nonetheless, if I see another article utilizing the infantile, derogatory insult “Karen,” which Ali so loved resurrecting, I’ll critically rethink that call.
I used to stay in Los Feliz for a few years, however now I’m in Burbank. Does that make me a Karen? I hope not.
