Sri Lanka’s former prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has been sworn in as the brand new president amid hopes that he’ll pull the nation out of its financial struggling.
The 73-year-old took his oath on the tightly-guarded parliament advanced.
Mr Wickremesinghe is seen as deeply unpopular with the general public, however some protesters have stated they’ll give him an opportunity.
Sri Lanka has seen months of mass unrest over an financial disaster.
