Spain’s Catalonia area is experiencing excessive drought.
The Sau reservoir, 100km (about 62 miles) inland from Barcelona, has in latest months change into a visual image of the state of affairs.
That’s due to the sight of the eleventh Century church of Sant Romà de Sau, which was submerged when the reservoir was created in 1962.
This a part of Catalonia has not seen sustained rain in two-and-a-half years. In early March, the reservoir’s water degree had dropped to eight% of its capability.
