Spanish police on Saturday stated they made an arrest after discovering 250 lifeless animals, largely canine, in a dirty warehouse that native media dubbed “the breeding floor of horror”.
The Civil Guard stated the unlawful website within the northwestern village of Meson do Vento had “extraordinarily poor” hygiene and animal welfare situations, with cages “completely coated in excrement”.
The lifeless animals, which included 28 chihuahuas and birds, have been “in several phases of decomposition, some even mummified”, the pressure stated in a press release.
The Civil Guard saved 171 different animals, together with unique and guarded chicken species reminiscent of macaws and cockatoos, which have been present in a life-threatening situation.
The survivors have been feeding off the lifeless animals as a result of lack of meals and water.
The location supervisor was arrested on costs of animal abuse, unlawful possession of protected species and unqualified veterinary apply.
