US journalist Evan Gershkovich, of the Wall Road Journal, has been formally arrested in Russia and accused of spying.
Mr Gershkovich, an skilled Russia reporter, was working in Yekaterinburg on the time of his detention.
The Wall Road Journal mentioned it was “deeply involved” for his security and vehemently denied the allegations in opposition to him.
The Kremlin claimed the reporter had been “caught red-handed”.
The FSB mentioned it had “halted unlawful actions” and that the reporter had been “performing on US directions” and “accumulating state secrets and techniques”.
