To the editor: There was another mass shooting at a school; this time the suspect is a 14-year-old in Georgia who was interviewed a 12 months in the past about his threatening to do that.
And nonetheless, nothing shall be executed in Georgia or most different states, besides to say hug your kids, inform them you’re keen on them and the victims have our ideas and prayers. What BS.
We want higher gun legal guidelines. Even Republicans who caress the Nationwide Rifle Assn. and exalt the 2nd Modification must not less than attempt to get a few of these weapons off the streets and enact smart legal guidelines so these shootings are much less frequent.
Attention-grabbing how the Republicans care for youngsters a lot that they wish to outlaw abortion, but when a baby is born, they must undergo lively shooter drills at school to remain protected. I’m outraged, scared for my grandchildren and unhappy for our nation.

To the editor: I don’t perceive why officers are so stunned by faculty shootings. As a former highschool instructor of 30 years, I recollect it was not laborious to see crimson flags raised by college students who have been alienated, sad or bullied.
Locally I taught, I figured that not less than 35% of the mother and father have been alcoholics. I recommended children who have been sexually abused by kin and so many who have been ignored or mistreated in some ways. These children come to high school with a “faculty face,” and until they’re seen by a instructor or another person, their points go unaddressed.
After all, we want much better gun management. However we can’t ignore that we want a lot extra private interplay with children individually. Faculties may set up small (required) lessons through which children speak about what’s going on of their lives, led by academics educated particularly for this job.
There may be a lot of work to be executed. On this meantime, if you’re a mum or dad or a relative, please take heed to your youngsters and take note of how they’re coping, how they’re feeling, and what’s on their minds.

To the editor: Politicians against gun management argue that the answer is best psychological well being packages. If they honestly consider this, they need to help a complete effort to supply psychological well being packages.
Provided that gun violence is the main explanation for loss of life for youngsters and teenagers within the U.S., politicians needs to be focusing their efforts on funding coaching for counselors in each faculty in America. There needs to be an enormous push for reasonably priced psychological well being packages with experience in figuring out and treating people in danger for committing gun violence.
If politicians really really feel that the reply is more practical psychological well being packages, they should reveal their sincerity by motion and make psychological well being packages a precedence. Ideas and prayers aren’t efficient options.

To the editor: Earlier than even figuring out a lot in regards to the 14-year-old boy suspected of killing 4 folks Wednesday at a Georgia highschool, officers introduced they’ll prosecute him as an grownup.
That’ll clear up the whole lot, all proper. Little doubt the following mentally unwell scholar with a gun — a baby who, in that second, doesn’t give one whit about himself or anybody else — will pause and suppose, “Hmm, I’d higher not pull the set off as a result of I would get tried as an grownup.”
