LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Reese Know-how Heart is working to increase financial growth in Lubbock County.

Reese has began building on East 90 Enterprise Park, proper throughout the road from the present campus west of Lubbock.

Reese Know-how Heart CEO Murvat Musa says the brand new area will make room for an often-overlooked enterprise sector, mid-sized manufacturing corporations.

“I feel we centered on this nation nationally on very massive firms and really small companies, however we’re forgetting that there’s one other part in there that we have to service,” she mentioned.

Musa says these mid-sized corporations are searching for a spot to land, however discovering one in Lubbock has been tough currently.

“That sort of area in Lubbock is leased. I don’t suppose there’s any capability and we get tons of requires that sort of area. And so, there’s a requirement for it, and that demand’s been ongoing for quite a few years,” she mentioned.

A political subdivision of the state, the aim out at Reese is to create jobs and produce personal funding to the area. Musa says that’s what it’s been doing for 28 years, for the reason that Air Drive base closed.

To increase that mission, it’s began building on East 90 Enterprise Park, proper throughout Analysis Boulevard. Musa hopes years from now, the 90 acres shall be filled with robust companies.

“The undertaking we’re doing proper now could be solely going to cowl a couple of third of the property, however a 3rd of the property is loads of acres. That’s in all probability over 30 acres. And we will find a lot of prospects there,” Musa mentioned.

Beforehand, the land was used for housing for Reese Air Drive Base, so Musa says it took a while to do away with the infrastructure from the neighborhood.

“There have been…I take into consideration 400 homes that had been situated there, and so they had been taken out a few years in the past and it’s taken us fairly a very long time to determine the right way to clear up the rest of the infrastructure,” she mentioned.

The Financial Improvement Administration supplied a $2 million grant to go alongside Reese’s $1.5 million to get the undertaking going. Musa says that cash shall be poured again into the Lubbock financial system via the companies that can transfer to the park.

“They carry jobs and that’s the primary factor that we’re charged to do. So, they’re going to carry jobs and people individuals are going to stay in Lubbock and are going to spend their cash in Lubbock and so they’re going to purchase homes in Lubbock. So, that simply circulates extra money into the financial system,” Musa mentioned.

She expects building for roads and infrastructure for the primary portion of the park must be accomplished by the top of this fall.
