To the editor: The lack of Will Rogers’ ranch home and homestead within the Palisades hearth is deeply saddening (“At historic home of Will Rogers, a painful question after fire: What comes next?” Might 4). Rogers was a fantastic American humorist and humanist whose folksy model could be welcome as we speak. His Despair-era quip — “There’s as a lot cash as we speak as there ever was. Solely fewer individuals have it” — is as related as we speak because it was when he stated it. I hope that his reminiscence can proceed to be honored on the property.
The eucalyptus bushes that he had planted, sadly, might have been partly liable for the lack of the ranch, since they’re a really flamable species. Although they’re traditionally important, it appears logical to switch them with a local tree akin to coast stay oak, which is hearth resistant and gives nice habitat for the native wildlife.

To the editor: I’m sorry to study Rogers’ ranch home burned down. He is a crucial a part of Americana, and workers author Hailey Branson-Potts did a superb job of summarizing this superb man’s legacy. A favourite quip of Rogers’ sticks with me: “I’m not a member of any organized political social gathering. I’m a Democrat.”
