Protests have erupted in Pakistani cities after former Prime Minister Imran Khan was arrested as he appeared in a court docket within the capital, Islamabad, to face corruption allegations.
Video of the arrest shared by Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) get together confirmed safety forces in riot-control gear whisking the 70-year-old away in a van. The PTI urged supporters to take to the streets.
Since his elimination from energy final yr, Khan has been slapped with dozens of prices, which he denies and says are politically motivated.
“Imran Khan has been arrested within the Qadir Belief case,” the Islamabad police mentioned on its official Twitter account, referring to a corruption case.
