Flights evacuating Europeans from Niger have arrived in France and Italy.
France started evacuating its residents from the West African nation amid anti-French sentiment following final week’s coup – 262 folks arrived in Paris early on Wednesday.
The coup has prompted demonstrations in opposition to the previous colonial energy, with the French embassy coming below assault.
Niger has been a key Western ally within the struggle in opposition to jihadist extremism within the Sahel. Each France and the US have army bases there.
