To the editor: Rule No. 1 within the handbook for would-be dictators — harangue the inhabitants till individuals hand over. (“As children’s book bans soar, sales are down and librarians are afraid. Even in California,” Dec. 12)
Educators are giving as much as the fixed noise round books which have something that is likely to be thought of controversial. This leaves a far-right, spiritual phase of the inhabitants to find out simply what topics needs to be banned.
One such e-book talked about in your article is a few Black father who teaches his youngster to like her hair — actually!
Please, educators, publishers, mother and father, libraries, e-book shops and the overall involved inhabitants: Proceed the battle to maintain vital books in your cabinets. Preserve training various.

To the editor: I can perceive why sure mother and father wouldn’t need their younger kids to be uncovered to books with themes that run counter to their very own spiritual beliefs. I don’t agree with the impulse, however I perceive.
What I can’t perceive is how “I don’t need my youngster to learn this e-book” can translate into “I refuse to permit any youngster to learn this e-book.”
As for Madison Minor and her crusading associates at Mothers for Liberty — an ironic identify for a bunch whose function is repression — relating to what my kids ought to learn, I defer to the knowledge of Mrs. Singer in “Annie Corridor”: “What’s that your corporation?”
