The Israeli navy has stated an “operational misunderstanding” led to the killing of 14 emergency staff in southern Gaza final month.
An inquiry into the incident by the Israel Protection Forces (IDF) discovered a collection of failings. It stated the killing of a UN employee shortly afterwards was “a breach of orders throughout a fight setting”.
