To the editor: I’m getting bored with explaining to people who a few dozen idiots turned a peaceable protest right into a media occasion frenzy by turning violent (“Who’s telling the truth? Searching for a shared reality amid L.A. protests,” June 10).
However, after dwelling in L.A. for practically 30 years, I can actually say I’ve seen extra chaos at celebrations when the Dodgers or Lakers win. And nobody suggests bringing within the Nationwide Guard and Marines.
Within the meantime, masked ICE thugs are throwing harmless residents into vans and carting them off. President Trump promised to clear the U.S. of violent criminals. However this appears to have manifested as seamstresses, automotive wash attendants and farmworkers, who’ve been right here for 10-plus years, and who’ve authorized kids right here, being handled as violent offenders to be able to meet his quotas.
When you’ve ever seen photographs of Nineteen Thirties German troopers throwing Jews into trains to be carted off and also you don’t see the similarities, you then’re simply mendacity to your self.

To the editor: A dozen folks arrested on prices equivalent to failure to disperse, receiving stolen property and industrial housebreaking. Seven arrests have been in reference to smash-and-grab incidents at two shops.
A Metro bus in Echo Park was set on fireplace and a downtown retailer was looted. The Los Angeles Police Division declared 4 illegal assemblies and used less-lethal munitions to manage hostile crowds. Mayor Karen Bass stated violence won’t be tolerated.
Was this a radical left-wing mob engaged in rebellion? No, what I simply described was a “celebration” by sports activities followers on Oct. 31, 2024, following the Dodgers’ World Collection victory.
