Newsnight has been instructed the Safety Service’s failure to stop the Manchester Area bomb assault in 2017 centred on a mistake so critical that it may very well be considered as negligent.
Two sources instructed the BBC that MI5 obtained intelligence within the months earlier than the 2017 assault, linking Salman Abedi to a bomb plot.
