Mark Barrow, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Mark Barrow was born and raised in Crestview, Florida, and attended the College of Florida. In 1960, his class was the primary to matriculate by and graduate from the College of Florida Medical College. After an internship in North Carolina, he returned to UF for residency and a analysis Ph.D. in anatomical sciences (1968). After two years in Washington, DC, he returned to UF as an assistant professor within the Division of Drugs. In 1972, he entered personal observe as a heart specialist.
Dr. Barrow married his late spouse, Mary Besalski, in 1959, and the primary of their 5 youngsters was born on the day he graduated from medical college. Collectively, they labored to protect and restore greater than 20 historic buildings in Gainesville, together with the Tigert Home and Bailey Home. Dr. Barrow was the founding president of the Matheson Historic Middle (now the Matheson Historical past Museum). Though Dr. Barrow has retired from his medical observe, he has not truly “retired.” He continues to steer the cost to protect Alachua County historical past by gathering, fundraising, and volunteering.
