Winnipeg police shot and killed a person close to a bus cease on the Unicity Mall Sunday night, after the person stabbed a plainclothes officer within the throat.
Police say members had been within the 3600 block of Portage Avenue as a part of the Retail Theft Initiative Sunday night. The person stabbed one of many officers within the throat with an edged weapon. An officer then shot the person.
Police say the officers, together with the one who had been stabbed, gave him CPR. The person and the injured officer had been each taken to hospital. The person died of his accidents; the officer is recovering in hospital.
