SEATTLE – Coming off her file setting mile run, and heading into UW’s first Massive Ten Indoor Championships this weekend, junior Amina Maatoug has received the Massive Ten Girls’s Observe Athlete of the Week award. Maatoug went to No. 10 in NCAA historical past within the mile with a time of 4:26.39 on the BU Terrier Final Likelihood Meet in Boston on Friday, Feb. 21.
It is the second Massive Ten Athlete of the Week honor for the 8th-ranked Husky girls this season, and the primary on the monitor, after Amanda Moll received the Discipline Athlete of the Week award final week.
The native of the Netherlands transferred to the Dawgs from Duke and has made a huge effect on the monitor this winter. She has set three totally different Faculty Information over the previous two meets, anchoring the DMR to a file time of 10:40.44 on Feb. 14, then at some point later setting a 3,000-meters file of 8:46.20. She then broke the mile file final Friday, with teammate Chloe Foerster only a break up second behind in 4:26.54 for the No. 12 mark in NCAA historical past.
