Lord Trimble, the previous first minister of Northern Eire and Ulster Unionist Social gathering chief, has died.
Lord Trimble, who was 77, led the UUP between 1995 and 2005, and was instrumental within the negotiation of the Good Friday Settlement – the peace deal which ended the worst of Northern Eire’s sectarian violence.
His efforts gained him the Nobel Peace Prize together with SDLP chief John Hume. Since 2006, he sat within the Home of Lords as Baron Trimble of Lisnagarvey.
He was the primary particular person to serve within the function of First Minister within the new Northern Eire Govt, established as a part of the Good Friday Settlement.
An announcement from the UUP stated: “It’s with nice disappointment that the household of Lord Trimble announce that he handed away peacefully following a brief sickness.”
