To the editor: I simply need to applaud the writing of Los Angeles Instances journalist Brittny Mejia (“The journey to becoming a tall drink of water,” March 7). In her story about sufferers getting leg-lengthening surgical procedure I felt like I used to be there in the course of the surgical process.
She writes like a novelist or a poet. Writing like this retains me a loyal L.A. Instances subscriber. The next was significantly memorable:
“He was making a line of perforations circling the femur to make it simpler to interrupt the strongest bone within the physique, akin to the small holes that assist tear a paper towel. When the physician eliminated the drill to chill it down within the tech’s ready cup of water, steam-like wisps of smoke radiated.”

To the editor: I had a leg-lengthening process in 2013 utilizing the Precice gadget resulting from a hip fracture. This life-saving gadget was nothing wanting a miracle for me. Sure, the surgical procedure was horribly painful, however it was value it ultimately.
