In Deir al-Ahmar, a Christian village in Lebanon, hundreds of Shia Muslims have sought refuge from Israeli bombing. The displaced households are sheltering in colleges, church buildings and personal houses. Israel’s pressured evacuation order on Baalbek and surrounding areas has led to this inflow of individuals. Some locals reckon Israel is making an attempt to reignite previous hostilities inside Lebanon to focus on Hezbollah. Regardless of previous sectarian tensions, the Christian residents have welcomed their Shia neighbours, emphasising their shared Lebanese identification. The state of affairs has elevated exercise in Deir al-Ahmar, with many refugees eager to return residence, though their homes could not exist as a result of ongoing battle.
