The Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics responds to written inquiries from New York state’s roughly 3,600 judges and justices, in addition to lots of of judicial listening to officers, assist magistrates, court docket attorney-referees, and judicial candidates (each judges and non-judges in search of election to judicial workplace). The committee interprets the Guidelines Governing Judicial Conduct (22 NYCRR Half 100) and, to the extent relevant, the Code of Judicial Conduct. The committee consists of 28 present and retired judges, and is co-chaired by the Honorable Debra L. Givens, an appearing justice of the supreme court docket in Erie County, and the Honorable Lillian Wan, an affiliate justice of the appellate division, second division.
