Miller (1840 – 1912) Prolific writer and pastor of Presbyterian church buildings in Pennsylvania and Illinois, Rev.James Russell Miller served the USCC as a subject agent within the Military of the Potomac and Military of the Cumberland. J.R. Miller started contributing articles to spiritual papers whereas at Allegheny Seminary. This continued whereas he was on the First United, Bethany, and New Broadway church buildings. In 1875, Miller took over from Henry C. McCook, D.D. when the latter discontinued his weekly articles in The Presbyterian, which was printed in Philadelphia. J.R.
