A tsunami has hit the island of Tongatapu, the most important in Tonga, a Polynesian nation product of greater than 170 islands within the South Pacific after an underwater volcano within the South Pacific erupted. The distant archipelago lies about 800 kilometers (500 miles) east of Fiji and a couple of,380 kilometers (1,500 miles) from New Zealand.
