Former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, 67, has died in hospital after he was shot at a political occasion in southern Japan, in response to native media.
Mr Abe was shot at twice whereas he was giving a speech within the southern metropolis of Nara on Friday morning.
He instantly collapsed and was rushed to the closest hospital.
Safety officers on the scene tackled the gunman, and the 41-year-old suspect is now in police custody.
