Driving change for ladies in sport: International leaders set to assemble at IWG Summit 2026
The ninth IWG International Summit on Ladies and Sport will happen in Birmingham, UK, from 9 to 11 July 2026. Organised by the Worldwide Working Group on Ladies and Sport (IWG) and supported by the Worldwide Olympic Committee (IOC) as a part of its dedication to gender equality, the Summit is the world’s largest gathering devoted to advancing gender equality in and thru sport. Over three days, 1,200 worldwide delegates – together with policymakers, athletes, lecturers and sports activities leaders – will share analysis, insights and techniques to drive systemic change.
Following the primary IWG World Convention, the IOC was one of many first organisations to signal the Brighton Declaration on Ladies and Sport in 1994, calling on governments, civil society, companies, academia, analysis establishments and sports activities organisations to advocate gender parity. Up to date in 2014 throughout the sixth IWG World Convention in Helsinki, the dedication now has greater than 600 signatories worldwide.
At the last Summit in 2022, discussions emphasised creating secure and inclusive sporting environments and accelerating progress on management alternatives for ladies – priorities which are embedded within the IOC’s work on gender equality. These efforts complement initiatives throughout the Olympic Motion, together with attaining gender parity on the Olympic Video games and selling balanced illustration in management roles.
