Israel has sworn in retired Main-Basic Eyal Zamir as its new military chief, changing Lieutenant Basic Herzi Halevi, who resigned in January over the army’s safety and intelligence failures throughout Hamas’s October 7, 2023, assault. Zamir pledged to press in the direction of “victory” in Gaza.
