US Particular Envoy Amos Hochstein is within the Lebanese capital, holding talks for a second day
He is hoping to make progress for a possible ceasefire deal between Israel and Hezbollah.
On Tuesday, Hochstein met the Lebanese prime minister Najib Mikati and speaker of parliament Nabih Berri.
A Hezbollah official says that any peace deal should swiftly finish Israel’s assaults and protect Lebanon’s sovereignty.

Daniel Levy, president of the US/Center East challenge and former advisor within the Israeli prime minister’s workplace, says Israel has positioned “some poisoned capsules” into the negotiations.
