President Joko Widodo has launched a settlement programme for victims of some previous human rights abuses, together with violence by safety personnel, crackdowns towards pupil demonstrators within the ’90s, and the years of civil battle within the province of Aceh.
However survivors and relations of victims say the brand new scheme doesn’t deliver them any nearer to justice, arguing the programme doesn’t maintain perpetrators accountable and doesn’t assist individuals discover out what occurred to family members.
The federal government says that the programme doesn’t intervene with authorized avenues for justice.
